Since inception in 1971, TLCC Darwin has sought to promote and teach safe and responsible Four Wheel Driving in the NT. Our education program teaches many facets of Four Wheel Driving in a relaxed NT style. Take advantage of what the Club offers, learn the basics or learn a lot, have fun and make new friends all by enjoying the benefits of Toyota Land Cruiser Club membership and learning from the skills of our experienced personnel. Our 4WD driver awareness training courses are among the best value in the country.

Our course includes some theory lessons covering key aspects of 4WDing. The course includes the basic use of CB radio, driving in different conditions, recovery gear, winching, tyres & accessories.

The practical component is conducted locally in Darwin and includes driving through deep water (depending upon season), mud and sand, stopping and starting on steep hills, proper use of snatch straps, as well as the correct use of winches and pulleys.

Drivers completing this course should feel confident that they can safely drive their 4WD in most conditions. It is an expectation that Club members complete the standard driver awareness training course before being permitted to participate in Club trips.

There are other courses likely to be available in the near future for full members to enrol in. These courses are facilitated by Club Members for Club Members. Navigation and Communication Courses may attract a fee to cover the costs of items & handouts used during the courses.

You can discuss the content and availability of these courses with the Training Coordinator.

From time to time the Club also organises a First Aid Course on behalf of Club Members, by an External Training Organisation (eg. St John Ambulance Australia). This course attracts a fee, charged at External Training Organisation rates.

Express your interest in a course today to secure your position in an upcoming course.
